Petnux is a small, independent publication about one specific thing: living with cats in apartments.
Most cat advice online is written for people with houses, yards, and spare rooms. It assumes you can put the litter box in the basement and the cat tree in the corner of a spare bedroom. That is not how most of us live. When your whole home is a few hundred square feet and you share a wall with a neighbour, the questions are different — and the answers rarely show up in a generic “best cat litter” list.
That is the gap Petnux fills.
Who is behind this
Petnux is written and maintained by a cat owner who lives in a small apartment. No corporate parent, no content farm — just one person who got tired of reading cat-gear advice written for houses.
The premise of this site is simple: if it has to fit in an apartment, it should be judged by apartment rules.
How we test
Every product page on Petnux follows the same three rules:
- We buy the products ourselves. We do not accept free products in exchange for reviews, and no brand gets to see or approve what we write before it is published.
- We use them for at least 14 days before writing anything. First impressions are almost always wrong. The problems with a litter box — the smell, the dust, the way the lid jams — show up in week two, not hour two.
- We write down what we measured. Where it matters, we record actual numbers: how many litter granules ended up outside the box over 7 days, how much floor space the unit takes up, how loud the motor is at night.
We also say clearly who a product is not for. A recommendation that fits everyone is not a recommendation — it is advertising.
How we make money
Petnux is reader-supported. When you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is what keeps the site independent and ad-light.
Some pages also show advertising. We do not let either of these change what we recommend — if a product is bad, we say so, and sometimes the recommendation is simply “don’t buy this.”

What Petnux is not
We are not veterinarians. Nothing on this site is medical advice. If your cat is sick, in pain, or behaving in a way that worries you, please contact a licensed veterinarian. We stick to the things we can actually test: gear, litter, furniture, and the practical logistics of small-space cat ownership.
