This Privacy Policy explains how Petnux (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit https://petnux.com (the “Site”).

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who we are

Petnux is an independent publication about cat gear and small-space cat ownership, operated by Petnux, contactable at hello@petnux.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter or use our contact form, we collect the email address and any other information you choose to provide.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and approximate location derived from IP address.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons and local storage) to operate the Site, understand how it is used, and display advertising. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may affect how the Site functions.

4. Advertising

We display advertising on the Site, including advertising served by Google AdSense and other third-party advertising networks.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and/or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we request consent for advertising cookies through a consent management platform in accordance with applicable law. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time through the consent banner or your browser settings.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to visiting. We use this information only to improve the Site.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We also use Google Search Console, which provides aggregate search performance data and does not identify individual visitors.

6. Email newsletters

If you subscribe, we store your email address and, if you provide it, your first name, using our email service provider (our email service provider). We use this information to send the newsletter and related updates.

Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing hello@petnux.com. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.

7. Affiliate links

Some links on the Site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate networks we participate in may set cookies in order to attribute a purchase to our link. These cookies are set by the merchant or network, not by us.

For more information, see our Affiliate Disclosure.

9. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases: consent (for advertising cookies and newsletters), legitimate interests (for site security, analytics, and improving our content), and legal obligation.

10. Your privacy rights

We do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@petnux.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

12. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. International data transfers

Our service providers, including Google and our email provider, may store and process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for such transfers.
